8 May is a heck of a day for calcio. On that date in 1898, the Federazione Italiana de Football (which would later be renamed Federazione Italiana Giuocco Calcio, or FIGC) organized Italy’s first tournament. Genoa overcame FC Torinese, Internazionale Torino, and SG Torino to earn the nation’s first soccer title.
Okay, that doesn’t actually have much to do with what we’re talking about here, other than the date. Pretty cool little fact, though, right? Anyways, on Saturday, 8 May 2021, we’re going to have our third-ever Viola Nation happy hour. It’ll begin about 15 minutes after the Lazio game wraps up (I need a little time to finish the post-game writing stuff), so let’s call it 10:00 PM GMT.
If you’re interested, drop a comment below (and make sure your profile has an updated email address) or hit us directly at sbn.viola.nation@gmail.com. I’ll send out a Zoom link a day or two before. The last couple have been a lot of fun, at least for me, and I’m really looking forward to seeing yall again. If the time doesn’t work for you, I’m really sorry; that’s the downside of being part of a pretty worldwide community. I’ll try to move the time around for the next one so everyone gets a chance to drop by without having to stay up until 4 AM or something.
Anyways, start dusting off your best coffee, tea, Chianti classico, or Facundo Roncaglia rage juice and get ready to talk about Fiorentina, your cat, and whatever else is rattling around in your brain. Can’t wait to see you.
