Bryan Dabo has had a miserable year at Fiorentina. Clearly unfancied by Vincenzo Montella, the Marseille-born Burkinabé has yet to make the matchday squad for the Viola this year despite being, at worst, the 6th-best midfielder in the squad. Although he was expected to leave this past summer, he stuck around—whether because a deal couldn’t be found or because he wanted to earn his place—and it’s been a bummer for him.
A return to France may be just what the 27-year-old needs, and according to Violanews, Nantes and Brest are ready to make offers between €2 million and €5 million to bring him in. He’d have a chance to start in midfield for either outfit, although competition for a place would be stiffer at the former, which is sniffing at the European places.
While we’d be sad to see the fan favorite Perestroika leave, it’s unlikely that his future is in Florence unless Giuseppe Iachini has marked him as untouchable, which would be mightily surprising. It’s simply unfair to keep a wonderful character like Dabo in the stands and out of the spotlight, so we’re completely on team #FreeDabo, even if it means losing him. At least we’ll always have our Dabo Facts.
