OFFICIAL: Fiorentina sign Dušan Vlahović

It’s another Serbian teenager, another raid on Partizan, and another Corvinata.

Having already raided Partizan Belgrade for promising young centerback/enormous human Nikola Milenković, Pantaleo Corvino has returned to the Serbian outfit for another very large teenager. This time, it’s hulking 17-year-old striker Dušan Vlahović, who’s already drawn comparisons to Zlatan Ibrahimovic. It’s a deal that shouldn’t be too surprising, as Corvino was eyeing a move for the youngster as far back as February.

The first thing you notice about Vlahović is that he’s very large. To be precise he’s 6’3 (190 cm) and built like a dang tank. It’s not surprising, then, that he’s good at getting on the end of crosses, using his imposing frame to bundle his way into the box to meet high balls in. He’s offers more than size, though. He likes to drift to the right wing, then cut inside and shoot from distance with his powerful left foot. He’s also much more nimble than you’d expect from such a big man and isn’t afraid to take on an opponent.

He also comes with plenty of expectation. He’s the youngest player to ever appear for Partizan (just 16 at his debut) and he’s already with the Serbia U19s. We probably won’t see him with Fiorentina any time soon, but he should fit right in with the Primavera for a year and then move up through the loan ranks. He’s got a lot of growing to do (figuratively speaking), but he looks like he could be the next star on the Belgrade-to-Florence express.
