OFFICIAL: De Maio ends up at Bologna

It’s a match made in sandwich heaven.

Bologna have announced the capture of Sebastian de Maio on a permanent deal from Anderlecht. The big Frenchman spent last season with Fiorentina in a rather anonymous fashion, but should get a chance to compete for playing time with the Felsinei than he did with the Viola.

As you may recall, de Maio had a sort of weird summer last year. He moved from Genoa to Anderlecht early in the window, but within days decided that it was a mistake and requested a move away. Unable to sell him again, the Belgian side was forced to loan him out. This time, though, the deal will be a permanent one, with a fee believed to be somewhere in the €1 million range.

De Maio’s brief Viola career will end with 9 appearances and a booking. The 30-year-old should be thrilled to be getting a permanent stay in Italy, where he’s spent the majority of his professional career; that he’s now with Bologna seems a fulfillment of both parties’ destinies to create an excellent sandwich. Now they just need to add Abel Tamata and they’ll really be cooking.
