Reports from the Corriere dello Sport suggest that Fiorentina are close to completing three transfer signings in the coming days, including the player Corvino views as Gonzalo’s replacement.

As we’ve previously reported, Partizan pair Nikola Milenkovic and Dusan Vlahovic have long been targets of Corvino’s. The pair are said to have cost the team a combined €6,500,000, with Milenkovic joining the squad at the end of the season, whereas Vlahovic will stay with Partizan at least until he turns 18 next January.

19-year old centre back Milenkovic has spent two years playing first team football, as well as having been handed the crno-beli captaincy earlier in the season. Whilst he’s far from the finished article, the teenagers imposing frame and impressive list of accolades could see him become a useful asset to the first team sooner rather than later.

Forward Vlahovic is very much a raw prospect, and will likely have to spend a few years either with the primavera or on loan in the lower echelons of Italian football before he’d be able to contribute to the first team.

More immediately exciting is the news that Corvino appears to have decided on Brazilian Vitor Hugo as the replacement for outgoing captain Gonzalo Rodriguez. Something of a journeyman, 25-year old Hugo has played for six clubs during his professional career, spending the previous two years with Palmeiras, helping them to a record 9th Brasilerao last year. Despite being uncapped at the international level, Hugo has been called up to the selecao once, for a friendly game to raise funds for Chapocoense earleir this year.

Highly rated in Brazil for his calmness and his prowess in the air, Hugo has also been linked to Galatasaray, and comes with an expected valuation of €8,000,000.
