According to reports in Italy, officials from Leicester City were present for Fiorentina’s disappointing loss to Empoli on Sunday and are believed to have been watching Josip Ilicic.
Sport Mediaset note that Jon Rudkin – the director of sport at the Premier League club – was at the Stadio Castellani for the 2-0 defeat in order to run his eye over the Slovenian international.
With fourteen goals and five assists in 32 appearances under Paulo Sousa, Ilicic began the season superbly but has faltered recently and the attraction of Champions League football with Leicester may tempt him into a summer move.
In an 81-minute display against Empoli, Rudkin would – according to WhoScored.com – have seen the 28 year old fail to find the target with both his shot attempts, connect with 48 passes and create two scoring opportunities.
