  • Pre-match thoughts: .

  • It's a bright, sunny day in Florence. With a chance to return to the top of the table (at least until Napoli play Genoa) the viola need to avoid any slip ups against Serie A new boys Frosinone.
  • Half-time thoughts:
  • Playing for the first time ever in Serie A, Frosinone goalkeeper Massimo Zeppino looked to have his work cut out as Fiorentina atacked from the first minute. Despite making a fine save from a Khouma Babacar shot on 18', he had a torrid first half conceding four goals to a rampant viola side.
  • A stroke of luck helped Ante Rebic get off the mark when his looping cross went wayward, bouncing off the post and into the net.

  • Just a minute later the Croatian nearly doubled his account, but his shot bounced back from the outside of the post.

  • On 29 minutes, dead ball specialist Mati Fernandez whipped a free kick from the edge of the box, which Gonzalo Rodriguez turned in with a smart back heel.
  • Two became four before half time when Babacar placed a 'cucchiaio' style penalty past Zeppino and Mario Suarez scored his debut goal or Fiorentina
  • Full-time thoughts
  • The second half was played at a much less frenetic pace and Paulo Sousa took advantage of the scoreline to bring on Luca Lezzerini in goal, giving the young goalkeeper some experience.
  • Frosinone showed more spirit in the second half, Alessandro Frara scoring past Lezzerini on 86' and Danielle Verde hitting the bar with virtually the last kick of the game.
  • Paulo Sousa will be disappointed to lose the clean sheet, but all in all, this was a good day for Fiorentina.
