We’ve all been on about how badly Fiorentina need to find a winger (or two) to use opposite of Federico Chiesa. Someone with the pace, dribbling, and workrate necessary to scare a defense. Someone who can grab a match by the scruff of the neck and take it over when necessary. Basically, someone exactly like Federico Chiesa. And now, the club has found just the man.
Okay, saying “just the man” may be a little bit misleading, because the player signed is perhaps a bit young for that label. This isn’t your typical Corvinata, a teenager from some far-flung locale’s second division. This is maybe a bit extreme, even for Pantaleo. But we’re still hyped up and will continue to be so, because the player in question is 13-year-old Lorenzo Chiesa. Yes, Fede’s kid brother and Enrico’s son. And he just joined the Viola academy.
So it could be a year or two until we get to see the Chiesa brothers terrorizing opposing fullbacks together. That’s okay. We’re patient. We can wait. Because the opportunity to see these two beautiful boys wearing matching purple shirts is absolutely worth it.

There’s no official announcement on the Fiorentina website because, again, this is a 13-year-old joining the academy and it’s probably a bad idea (for a variety of reasons) to publish stuff about a kid that age. And yeah, the team could probably still use another winger to keep Riccardo Sottil from playing important minutes this season. But join us for a moment, won’t you, in imagining a world featuring a pair of Chiesas rampaging up and down the wings for the Viola? It’s a happier world than this one and we’d like to spend a lot more time there.
