It’s been abundantly documented that Davide Astori deeply touched the lives of pretty much everyone he interacted with, so it’s no surprise that everyone is doing their best to remember him in their own way. The Fiorentina store sold out of jerseys with his number 13 within days of his passing. The club has renamed its training facility after him. Cristiano Biraghi got a “DA13” tattoo. And now Stefano Pioli has added some ink in the late captain’s honor too.
It’s no surprise that the staff at Frankie Tattoo Art Studio, a shop on the Via Giampaolo Orsini a bit east of the Ponte San Niccolò (south side of the Arno and maybe a 2.5 km southeast of the Duomo in case you’re looking for a good artist next time you’re in Florence) had to Instagram the mister’s visit to their premises; it’s not every day that they get a 52-year-old man who wears a suit to work, much less the boss of Fiorentina.
While we can’t see the actual tat in the pictures that the shop published, it looks like Pioli’s getting the inside of his left wrist done with something small, probably along the lines of Biraghi’s DA13. It’s just another reminder of how close this squad has become, and another reminder that, for all his faults, our mister is probably a pretty cool guy.
