While it's been a struggle for The Viola as a whole, it's been a fantastic year for Federico Chiesa. The dynamic winger has managed to tally three goals and three assists to his name this year and has caught they eye of Italian manager Giampiero Ventura.
Italy face San Marino in a friendly this evening, and with what will be a much-changed line-up, with all the stars being rested. It's an incredibly youthful with an average of 26.7 years, with Danilo D'Ambrosio the most senior name. The likes of Domenico Berardi, Daniele Baselli and Simone Scuffet all given chances to impress.
Chiesa, the youngest member of the squad at 19 will look to build on an impressive season. It's a chance to show Ventura what he can do and hopefully grab a goal or an assist, in what is sure to be an easy game against minnows, San Marino.
It's been a meteoric rise for the teenager, having only made his Italy U-21 debut back in March. It's predicted that it will be a different role however for Chiesa, with the winger most likely to start on the left with Berardi in his more natural right wing position.
