Fiorentina released their concept art for the new 40,000-seat stadium they’re trying to build, and they are stunningly gorgeous. Go on, take a look. Here’s an overhead aerial shot.

The inside looks great. Notice that there won’t be a track, so the fans will be right up in the action, which should make the new digs a real fortress.

Here’s the entrance to the stadium/mothership, upon which one could probably fry an egg in July.

Of course, these are just concept drawings, and the reality will probably be at least somewhat different. That reality, though, may well remain distant as Fiorentina and the city of Florence are still embroiled in talks with the Mercafir supermarket, which would have to be torn down before this new stadium is built. It sounds like all three sides are still fairly far apart, so it could be awhile before there’s any actual movement; after all, the Mercafir plan has been floating around for about 4 years now, and these concept drawings are all we have to show for it. But man, they sure are nice.
