Fiorentina calls initial squad to Moena

Sure, it's a squad decimated by injuries and international duties, but the Viola band is back together.

These are the 23 players called to Moena to begin offseason training. As you may notice, there are some notable names absent, but it's still Fiorentina football and ASDLKFJLKJSDLKFJDLKJSDLFKJAASDFLKAJSDF SO FREAKING EXCITED.

Goalkeepers: Bartłomiej Drągowski, Luca Lezzerini, Artem Makarov, Giacomo Satalino

Defenders: Marcos Alonso, Davide Astori, Ricardo Bagadur, Kevin Diks, Gilberto, Gianluca Mancini, Gonzalo Rodríguez, Nenad Tomović, Luca Zanon

Midfielders: Abdou Diakhate, Federico Chiesa, Matías Fernández (injured), Andrés Schetino, Borja Valero

Forwards: Khouma Babacar, Jaime Báez, Josip Iličić, Giuseppe Rossi, Mauro Zárate

Some of the highest profile players on the team will filter into Moena over the next month or so as they recover from their exertions with their respective national teams. Paulo Sousa has already spoken with these guys and everything is copacetic, but you may still want to brace yourselves for the forthcoming blizzard of rumors that Ciprian Tătăruşanu, Milan Badelj, Matías Vecino, Federico Bernardeschi, Mario Gómez, and/or Nikola Kalinić are all frozen out of the squad ahead of a move away from Florence.

So yeah, on paper, this Moena squad looks pretty ragged, but it should be a good chance to see how the new arrivals fit in or if any of the kids are ready for a role with the senior team. All in all, this is one of the funnest times of the year, and I'm so excited for all of the absurdity that will follow.
