Mati Fernandez is expected to be out for two months following knee surgery, an issue that has also ruled him out of the Copa Ámerica. The Chilean international underwent a procedure this weekend after tearing his meniscus, with his agent Ale Santisteban revealing that the operation had gone well.

The 30 year midfielder old joined La Viola back in 2012, but the club appeared set to let him go this summer, with former Fiorentina coaches Sinisa Mihajlovic and Vincenzo Montella - now of Torino and Sampdoria respectively - both reportedly looking to add him to their squads.
He played in 27 matches under Paulo Sousa this term, struggling to find a regular place in the side with twelve of those appearances coming from the bench as the new boss preferred other options.
It remains to be seen how this injury news impacts a potential exit for Fernandez, but any interested party is likely to wait until he has recovered before investing in the former Villarreal and Sporting man.
