We always expect to report on a bunch of transfers at this time of year, but the saddest ones are the ones that involve one of our own. No, we’re not talking about the imminent exit of a fan favorite like Borja Valero or Gonzalo Rodriguez (yet). We’re talking about Viola Nation writer JSE1926.
He signed on last year, back when Chloe was still the boss and I was secondish-in-command. I remember reading over his application and writing samples and thinking, “Dang. This dude is really passionate about Fiorentina.” When he started churning out articles, everyone else got to experience that fire as well. I’m particularly going to miss his breathless match recaps in which you could almost feel the noise from the crowd whipping the players into a frenzy.
Unfortunately, life gets in the way of this gig sometimes, and he’s stepping down. We’re hoping that he’ll stick around in the comments at least (please keep hanging out with us) and join our star-studded roster of former writers—take a bow, Mike-R and slakas—but no matter what, we’re going to miss him.
