Friday Poll: How optimistic are you heading into the transfer window?

We’re a week out from the madness of the mercato.

Summer is, in some ways, the best time to be a fan. The pain of the past season has diminished, replaced by the limitless hope that every new season brings. The endless possibilities of reinforcements in the transfer market—whether that’s stars to plug into the first team or youngsters to watch grow over the next year or two—gets everyone dreaming big. Why not us, after all? Anything could happen next season. Anything.

That goes extra for Fiorentina right now. The team is in the slightly odd position of reaching two tournament finals but still feeling like it needs a lot of work. We’ve heard plenty of names bandied about as possible additions, and with the window not opening until the first of next month, we’ve got a week to let our imaginations run wild.

And they are running wild, especially with the news that Juventus may bow out of the Conference League, opening a spot for the Viola to sneak in. With the lure of continental competition, a roster full of talent, and the most amazing practice facility in calcio, there’s room for a lot of optimism, even as the pessimists assume that Juve will slither back into Europe one way or another and that Fiorentina’s top players will all be sold.
