Seemingly out of nowhere, Fiorentina manager Cesare Prandelli has resigned with immediate effect, citing a “period of profound distress which is preventing me from being who I really am”.
While speculation is rife over the finer details of his departure, no matter what Prandelli’s mental health is a priority over anything to do with the club itself. We all hope that Cesare is doing well and hopefully there will be an ovation for him at the Franchi in due time.
Reported to replace him is none other than Beppe Iachini, who served as mister from December 2019 until November 2020. The only realistic option to replace Prandelli, Iachini is rumored to begin training tomorrow and will have a full international break to evaluate the team before facing off against Genoa on April 3rd.
For now, I’m going to leave this short as a discussion post for this news and the tumultuous current state of Fiorentina. For an international break that was looking fairly devoid of news, things have just become a lot more interesting for us Viola fans.
