Happy birthday Mr. President! Today, Fiorentina owner Rocco Commisso turns 72 years young and we couldn’t be happier. Admittedly, only a few fans were aware of who Rocco was before he purchased the club. Deservedly, since taking over Fiorentina, Rocco has made his way into the hearts of almost all Fiorentina fans and faithful.

Rocco has taken some time to adjust to the logic within Italian politics and sport, but what sound business minded person wouldn’t? This year he has put together a team that has already accumulated 21 points, tied two teams everyone loves to hate for 6th, a feat that Fiorentina took weeks longer to reach last year. He is currently building Italy’s preeminent centro sportivo and has kept the city buzzing during a pandemic that has kept many tourists home.

Success on the pitch hasn’t been the only impact he has had in Serie A. Most here would argue that his biggest impact has been bringing much needed attention to racism in Serie A, something most owners and fans were ok with keeping a dirty little secret. Love him or hate his decisions, his ethics are beyond reproach in this and many other aspects.
