Both managers make a rather unexpected choice with their personnel, adding yet another wrinkle to a fascinating matchup.

Late news

Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi brings Thomas Strakosha back between the sticks and gives Gonzalo Escalante a rare start in midfield, but otherwise names his expected XI. Fiorentina boss Cesare Prandelli gives Nikola Milinković (who’s played the second most minutes in Serie A this year among non-goalkeepers) a rare night off, which means Lucas Martínez Quarta steps in. Giacomo Bonaventura and Lorenzo Venuti get the nod in midfield and right wingback, respectively.

Lineups

Lazio (3-5-2): Strakosha; Luiz Felipe, Hoedt, Acerbi; Lazzari, Milinković-Savić, Escalante, Luis Alberto, Marušić; Caicedo, Immobile

Fiorentina (3-5-2): Drągowski; Martínez Quarta, Pezzella, Igor; Venuti, Bonaventura, Amrabat, Castrovilli, Biraghi; Vlahović, Ribery
