Pre-match
Giuseppe Iachini didn’t have Germán Pezzella, Sofyan Amrabat, or Erick Pulgar availabe. Federico Ceccherini filled in at the back with Alfred Duncan in the holding role and Giacomo Bonaventura in midfield. Franck Ribery wore the armband. Marco Giampaolo used Armando Izzo at rightback and handed Simone Zaza a start up top.
First half
Fiorentina created chances but just missed all of them, with Christian Kouamé’s noggin being guilty party. Since we don’t have video for all of that, this gif is a decent summary of the effort and desire being unmatched by the finish.
Second half
Federico Chiesa left Christian Ansaldi in the dust and crossed to the back post, where a completely unmarked Gaetano Castrovilli tapped home without any trouble. Torino fans will wonder what the heck Izzo was doing, but it was a lovely move to provide the first goal of this Serie A season.
