Pre-match
Antonio Conte changed his shape to incorporate a tridente of Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martínez, and Alexis Sánchez. Giuseppe Iachini brought in Pietro Terracciano, Federico Ceccherini, and Milan Badelj as expected, with Dušan Vlahović partnering Federico Chiesa.
First half
After spending the whole half keeping Inter Milan from getting a sniff, Fiorentina conceded just before the break as Ceccherini and Terracciano got mixed up in the box, allowing Antonio Candreva to sneak in and tap home the opener.

Second half
After weathering a series of Nerazzurri attacks, the Viola clawed back into the match thanks to a brilliant headed goal from Martín Cáceres, who rose way above Martínez to meet an Erick Pulgar corner.

The joy was short-lived, though, as Nicolò Barella hit an absolute screamer of a volley into the bottom corner moments later to restore the hosts’ lead.
A complete midfielder at the age of 22.
