A new stadium... What matters the most for you?

By now you have probably read that Fiorentina has made it a priority to build a new stadium and soon. What we want to know is your thoughts on what is best for the club.

What do we know? We have a couple of options at this point that Fiorentina and the local municipalities are evaluating. Some are more complex than others. Some take longer than others. Some just may not be feasible at all.

Option 1. Mayor Dario Nardella gave a quote yesterday stating “I prefer the facts to the words: so I don’t speak, but I work for the goal we have in Florence to do the stadium at the Mercafir.” Mayor Nardella still says the only option for a new stadium is at the Mercafir and that he is working to achieve this. Still, the timeline is rumored to be a minimum of 4 to 4 and a half years at this point. Until political words turn to action, it is likely longer.

Option 2. Campi Bisenzio. Attention has now turned to this area just outside of the city limits. Mayor Emiliano Fossi has been very vocal in support of the stadium being built here. This option would be available right away to Fiorentina and it is easy to get to. With much of Fiorentina’s fans now living outside of the city center, plenty of parking would be included in this option along with facilities for a corporate office, museum and hall of fame.

Option 3. New and intriguing option presented by Fiorentina.it. The theory presented is taking the former Gonzaga-Lupi barracks, near the border of Firenze and Scandicci, and using its approximate 30 hectares for the grounds of the new stadium, corporate offices and a Fiorentina museum/hall of fame. This area is mostly abandoned now, so timing should be between that of the Mercafir and Campi Bisenzio.
