Pre-match
Stefano Pioli sent out the exact XI we predicted for Fiorentina. Udinese manager Julio Velázquez changed things up, switching shape from a 4-3-3 to a 4-2-3-1 and adding Ignacio Pussetto to the starting lineup due to a lack of available midfielders.
First half
Big ol’ nothingburger.
Second half
In the 72nd minute, Udinese won a corner. Fiorentina cleared it to Federico Chiesa, who drove up the pitch, then slowed down for a moment to allow his support to catch up. And catch up it did, as Marco Benassi came sprinting up the right to cover about 60 meters. Chiesa clipped the ball over the top and Benassi caught up to it about 6 yards out from the goal. The midfielder lashed a spectacular volley into the roof of the net, just in the near corner, to score his third in two games.
What a counter-attack from Fiorentina!
