Fiorentina have announced the signing of Gerson, who has switched Rome for Florence. The Brazilian has initially joined on a loan deal from AS Roma.

While it was reported that there was an obligation to buy Gerson outright, there is no official mention of it in on the official website.

ACF Fiorentina announces that it has acquired, on a temporary basis, the rights to the sports performances of the player Gerson Santos Da Silva from AS Roma.

The Brazilian forward, born in Belford Roxo on 20 May 1997, made 31 appearances for the Giallorossi in all competitions last season, scoring two goals.

Gerson has also collected ten caps for Brazil at U20 level.

With Marko Pjaca’s move stalling Corvino has acted by bringing in the Brazilian. He’s a winger who is also capable of playing in the centre of the midfield and his versatility was a major factor in why he’s now a Viola player.

The young Brazilian is yet to realise his potential but, now sees his future in Florence where he will no doubt be looking to gain more first-team experience. With the move a flat out loan, he may well still see his future in Rome. However, looking towards the present, he is now a Fiorentina player and one which may well excite Viola fans.
