Friday Poll: Is Cristiano Ronaldo good for Serie A?

People seem more interested in calcio all of a sudden, but it’s unclear if they’ll ever look outside of Turin.

Yeah, Cristiano Ronaldo is with Juventus now, this answering the question, “Could those guys be any more loathesome?” Pretty much everyone has sounded off on the move by now (us too), but we’re still not sure what to think.

On the one hand, it’s been a long, looooong time since there was a Ballon d’Or challenger playing in Italy. Cristiano, for all his foibles, remains the most lethal finisher in the world and is likely to pile up an obscene number of goals, particularly in the Champions League. Maybe he’ll help the Juvenuts win old big ears. No matter what else happens, all the Ronaldo stans are Serie A bound. And hey, any publicity is good publicity, right?

Then again, perhaps not. PSG has added so many high profile names over the past few years, but nobody’s suddenly developed a burning passion for, say, Lorient as a result. As the Bianconeri scudetto streak continues—and with Ronaldo now on board—we could see something a lot like that in Serie A: one monolithic team a couple tiers above everyone else. And that’s hardly good for the league.

So let’s find fire this out. Is Cristiano Ronaldo good for Serie A?
