With a European place on the line, how much do you prioritize youth development right now?

Fiorentina are on track to qualify for the Europa League after a year-long absence, which is a testament to how the team has unified after the death of Davide Astori. However, with Sampdoria and Atalanta just behind, the Viola will have to be on their A game to return to continental competition.

However, club brass have also made their commitment to the youth movement very clear. This puts manager Stefano Pioli in a tricky position: he has to win matches, but he also wants to call up guys like Riccardo Sottil for their first-team debuts. Especially with the season-ending injury suffered by Simone Lo Faso, there may be space on the bench for some Primavera players.

What’s the best way to work some of the young players into the rotation over these final seven matches?

Don’t change anything. Qualifying for the Europa League is more important than giving 10 minutes to a teenager.

Give the kids the odd cameo in the SPAL or Cagliari matches, but stick with the proven players against the bigger teams.

Play them all as much as possible. This was always a rebuilding year, so it makes sense to see if the prospects are as good as we think.
