Gil Dias may be slightly out of favor with FiorentinaStefano Pioli’s decision to move Riccardo Saponara into the first XI has looked quite clever—but let’s not forget that the 20-year-old still a heck of a player. If you had forgotten, he was kind enough to provide a reminder in Portugal’s U21 Euro qualifier against Switzerland in the form of an icily precise chip.

(The caption reads, “Another win and very happy for the goal”)

The match was a back-and-forth affair, with the Swiss jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first half. The second half was a different story, though, as Portugal fought their way back to a 2-3 lead. With Switzerland pushing forward with everything, though, manager Rui Jorge brought Dias on as a striker, and the move paid big dividends.

Following a Swiss free kick in the 89th minute, the Portuguese fired a clearance past everyone. Rather, past everyone but Dias, who latched onto the ball, raced down the pitch unopposed, stayed calm with all the time in the world to psych himself out, and neatly lifted the ball over a helpless goalkeeper to provide the insurance goal.

Here’s another angle if you’re interested, along with the full match highlights.

Stefano Pioli, it’s your move.
