Pre-Match
Following the international break, Football was back at the Franchi. Stefano Pioli opted to play Edimilson Fernandes instead of Marco Benassi who dropped to the bench. Cagliari looked to Alberto Cerri to lead the line instead of the more experienced Leonardo Pavoletti.
First Half
The opening period was less than action packed with little chances for either side. Cerri was denied by great save from Alban Lafont, while Federico Chiesa had The Viola’s best chance, late in the half.
Second Half
Federico Chiesa who started the second half brilliantly was given a penalty courtesy of a VAR decision. Jordan Veretout stepped up and as calm as you like he slotted it in the corner and sent Alessio Cragno the wrong way.
