The January transfer window is here and teams are scrambling to find players to put them over the edge going into the second half of the season. For Fiorentina it looks like one of those players is Cagliari midfielder Joao Pedro. One of the biggest perceived weaknesses on the Viola roster is in the attacking midfielder position. Many fans thought they would see more of Riccardo Saponara, but it seems like the young Italian is currently out of favor with manager Stefano Pioli. With Milan Badelj currently manning the position, Fiorentina can use a new central midfielder. Nothing against Badelj, but he has been linked to many rumors of an exit from Florence.

That is where João Pedro comes in. The Brazilian central Midfielder has had a decent season with bottom tier Cagliari. In 19 matches this season, João Pedro has 6 goals and 1 assist. At the age of 25, the young Brazilian would step right into the middle of the pitch to increase the offensive production in Florence.

This is a real possibility, but may not happen until the summer. Cagliari may want to keep the Brazilian to help them fend off relegation. Certainly if the team does get relegated João Pedro will be playing somewhere else in Europe next season. That means that Fiorentina has a great shot of getting him next summer if they are interested. Right now he would be a great addition to this team because he brings youth, speed, and a nose for goal. Even in his one match against Fiorentina this season, it was easy to see the skills of the Brazilian midfielder.
