Crystal Palace interested in Khouma Babacar

Khouma Babacar’s time in Florence may be coming to an end with English Premier League side Crystal Palace preparing a bid for the striker.

The London based team have had a bit of a resurgence under Roy Hodgson and sit 14th in the Premier League table. The club have had a long-standing interest in Babacar and this month could be the time they get their man.

With every transfer window there comes rumours of Babacar leaving the club. Stefano Pioli is another manager who doesn’t seem to trust him to be his main man up top. Giovanni Simeone has consistently got the nod this season, with Pioli not starting Babacar at all in Serie A. It now seems as if the club are willing to let their longest serving player go.

Babacar has scored four times in 15 games which doesn’t seem fantastic but, when you consider every single appearance in the league has been from the bench, it isn’t a bad record at all. He has shown flashes of brilliance in his time at Fiorentina, however, has never managed to consistently stake a place in the side.

Crystal Palace are desperately in need of a goalscorer with their current forward Christian Benteke on a solitary league goal. Also, Babacar himself may very well be interested in going to a World Cup with Senegal, having played only 3 times for his national side, playing regularly in the Premier League may get him a call-up.

While there is no mention of transfer fee’s at this stage, the club may be keen to sell now, with Babacar only having a year and a half left on his current contract.

This transfer does make a great deal of sense, Khouma Babacar will no doubt have a big decision to make in leaving a club he loves.
