The silly season has come to an end for now and Fiorentina has made plenty of moves. With all of those moves one of the more exciting ones might be the move the team did not make. Striker Khouma Babacar is not going anywhere. According to a report from the Sun, English Premier League team Brighton had a £16.6 million offer on the table for the Senegalese forward. According to the Sun, the deal was all said and done, but we sit here and Babacar is still a part of la Viola.
This is actually exciting with many players leaving Florence this summer. The team looks a lot different these days, but the longest tenured player on Fiorentina is staying put. The fact of the matter is that both Fiorentina and Babacar rejected the offer from Brighton. Nothing is more exciting than a player wanting to stay on the team and the team backing him up on that idea.
Babacar’s career has been a constant state of what ifs. He has all the potential in the world, but never really seemed to put it all together. Since 2009, Babacar has only scored 31 goals for Fiorentina. Those numbers are not exciting by any stretch, but we all seem to have a soft spot for the forward from Senegal. Most fans have been watching him play since the ripe age of 16. He is ingrained in our hearts as someone we all want to succeed. At the age of 24, Babacar will have an opportunity once again to put up numbers in Florence. He clearly wants to stay with the team and that motivation might be exactly what it takes to put up great stats this season.
