It’s been rumoured this week that Sam Larsson who is currently applying his trade in the Netherlands for Heerenveen is seeking out a move to Fiorentina.
Larsson is a Swedish winger who plays on the left-hand side of midfield and likes to cut inside onto his favoured right foot. The Swede had very impressive numbers last season with 13 assists and 9 goals to his name. The 24 year old who is known for his immense dribbling and passing ability would be a smart acquisition by Corvino. Additionally, after the departure of Bernardeschi, there is an obvious demand for wingers and Larsson presents an opportunity to sign a highly promising talent.
Fiorentina’s main rivals to acquiring Larsson are Celta Vigo, who saw the Swedish international as one of their top targets. However, Fiorentina have hijacked the deal and the winger sees a move to Florence as a more attractive option. With Fiorentina having just sold Bernardeschi it's also apparent to Heerenveen that Fiorentina have money to spend and could get a better deal than they can with Celta.
The deal just makes sense for all parties. Larsson wants out of Heerenveen and Fiorentina need wingers. It also goes along with the clubs plan of signing young players for cheap and potentially selling them on for future profits. It’s been suggested that it’ll take around €7-8 million to prize the winger away from Holland.
His agent is in in Italy to thrash out a deal with Fiorentina, so watch this space for developments and hopefully we’ll see the Swede in Viola colours next season.
As usual here's a chance to listen to some awful music, and more importantly see some of Larsson’s highlights from last year.
