After what's becoming an awful summer of transfers, there could be some positive news on the horizon, as The Viola look to free agent Rachid Ghezzal.

The Algerian international has failed to agree on a new deal with Lyon and has presented Fiorentina with a brilliant chance to sign a talented attacker for free. This is simply an opportunity that can not be missed, with the likes of Cristian Tello who has left the club and Federico Bernardeschi looking very likely to leave the club.

Ghezzal struggled to find consistent form last season only scoring two goals and creating a further four in Ligue 1. However, the French-born winger also has continental experience playing in both the Europa and Champions League in recent seasons.

It was the 15/16 season where Ghezzal made his name scoring 8 goals and with 8 assists in 29 games. It’s this sort of form as to why it's such a bargain deal for Corvino.

Predominantly operating on the right hand side, the Algerian prefers to cut inside and use his stronger left foot to influence attacking plays, citing Arjen Robben who he bases his game around. He can also play on the left and through the centre providing some versatility to his game.

With Pioli now at the helm one thing Fiorentina need is wingers. Not only does the deal make financial sense it adds much-needed quality and depth in that area.

Unfortunately it’s not going to be an easy deal to complete as there is likely to great competition from teams around Europe, especially with AS Roma who see Ghezzal as a cost effective replacement to Mohamed Salah.

Here’s a chance to look at some of his best moments in his career.
