Stefano Pioli has today been officially announced as the new coach of Fiorentina. Following his dismissal by Inter it hasn't taken Pioli long to get back into management.

Pioli once a player at the Franchi made 156 appearances in his time in Florence between 1989 and 1995 and also went on the captain the side.

The new Gigliati boss has signed a contract which will see him in Florence for two years with an option of a third, should things go well.

"Pioli will be presented to the Press tomorrow, June 7, at 12.30 in the Manuela Righini Press room at the Stadio Artemio Franchi." The club stated on the official website.

The club also announced that the new boss will be meeting fans at Store Stadio Viale Manfredo Fanti in Florence for those who wish to greet the new coach. A nice gesture from Pioli and the club.

It's been no secret that this has been on the cards for a while now. For a long time it looked like it could have been Eusebio Di Francesco or even Luciano Spalletti taking over from Paulo Sousa.

The board clearly stated they wanted an Italian manager and they've got their wish. Here's hoping he can emulate the work he did with Lazio and it can be a more successful few years under Pioli's leadership.
