Well, friends, here on this joyous Friday we’re going to confront some terrible news head-on: Federico Bernardeschi is almost certainly leaving Fiorentina in the next few weeks. His destination, however, remains unclear. Inter Milan were the early favorites, but we’ve recently heard reports that Juventus may have pipped them in the queue, and now Barcelona have possibly entered the running as well. Of course, Chelsea and Bayern Munich have been following him for quite some time and certainly have the resources to make an out-of-the blue bid as well.
There’s still a very outside chance that Berna will stay in Florence, with the recent deal between Antoine Griezmann and Atlético Madrid providing a possible template. If Giancarlo Antognoni, Pantaleo Corvino, and the Della Valles can convince their superstar to stay put for one season (and a Scrooge McDuckian vault full of cash) while they rebuild a team that can compete without him. So hey, feel free to pick Fiorentina. It’s in that weird geographic area that spans both the realm of possibility and the realm of tremendous unlikeliness.
