According to calcionews24, Carlos Salcedo has been told that he wont be signed on permanent deal, which would cost the club €7 million. The 23 year old has only played 15 games in Serie A, making 13 starts.
The Mexican had been a regular in the side Pre-Christmas. However, he's only made three appearances since and has been replaced by Carlos Sanchez. Salcedo has played all across the back and has proved versatile to his credit.
Salcedo has his sights on bigger things. He had recently stated he was looking to sign on with la viola, but with a view to playing in the Champions League in the future.
According too whoscored.com he’s averaged a rating of 6.94 at center back and 6.49 at rightback, which goes to show where is natural position is, indicating that his struggles may not be entirely his fault.
Salcedo has a lot to improve, but being only 23 there is still time for him to become a regular defender in Europe and with the experience in Florence, it wouldn't be a surprise to see a lower level team pick him up.
He could have still provided a solid back up option. Especially as it looks like Gonzalo will be leaving the club. There may be some big changes in defence next year.
Salcedo's agent has already started looking at where in Europe his client could play next year but we now know it won't be with Fiorentina. Instead, he’ll return to Guadalajara to weigh his options, but it’s unlikely he’ll stick around Mexico for long.
