It is that time of year when every single team is subject to transfer rumors. Although every single day throughout the year it seems like transfer rumors fly through the air. With that comes a fun one for the January transfer window. Fiorentina is rumored to be in on Lazio’s Danilo Cataldi. The young midfielder is currently on loan at Benevento and will probably not be returning to Lazio when his loan spell is over.

With Benevento, Cataldi is getting plenty of playing time. Of course, Benevento has not won a game yet this season so they have nothing to lose by playing the central midfielder. In 14 games this season, Danilo Cataldi has no goals and two assists. Those are not normally exciting numbers for a prospect getting significant playing time in Serie A. Fiorentina probably see the potential that has come along with the young Italian. This video provides some insight into the crazy potential of the Lazio product.

Realistically, Cataldi will not be available until the end of the season. It is always possible that a team breaks their loan, but that seems unlikely. With Benevento on a 13 game losing streak, they will be fighting relegation for the rest of the season. If by some chance Benevento does not get relegated it is possible Cataldi stays with the team. If all signs point to reality, Cataldi will be looking for a new home over the summer. That is where Fiorentina can swoop in to get the Italian midfielder. It is possible that the price for Cataldi will be somewhere in the tune of 5 million Euros. Only time will tell, if this rumor will come true.
