Neither side looked great, but Ivan Radovanovic got himself a second yellow card in stoppage time for a foul on Nenad Tomovic. Federico Bernardeschi rattled the ensuing free kick off the bar.

Second half

Federico Chiesa caught the woodwork in the 50th minute, but Nicola Spolli somehow cleared the rebound off the line. Mauro Zarate was sent off 20 minutes later for a foul on Samuel Bastien; it didn’t look bad enough for a straight red, but both teams ended up with 10. In stoppage time, Josip Ilicic got into the box and was bundled over from behind, leaving Berna to coolly slot home the penalty and hand the Viola a win.
