Reasons to love Borja Valero, Volume 785

The Viola maestro continues his push to become the future mayor of Florence, and we wholeheartedly endorse him.

We usually don’t need a reason to praise Borja Valero around these parts, but he’s been obliging enough to provide us with a good one today. He and Rocio (who would also make for a heck of a mayor) have taken a day off from Fiorentina and thrown their support behind the Fundazione Marta Cappelli with a visit to the Mordilatte gelateria in Coverciano, which is partnering with the charity.

The Fondazione Marta Cappelli works with the parents of infants being cared for at Meyer Hospital in Florence. Much like the Ronald McDonald House, they provide support—transportation, lodging, counseling, and grants—to allow families to focus on caring for their children rather than worrying about logistics.

Mordilatte, which is one of the best gelaterias around, is giving a portion of their profits to the Fondazione Marta Cappelli right now, and the Valeros are jumping on board to help raise awareness. And, besides the tangible good that they’re doing, they’re also reminding us how well they’ve integrated themselves into the fabric of Florence.

If you’re interested in donating to the Fondazione Marta Cappelli, or just want to know more about what they’re doing, check out their website.
