Coach Paulo Sousa said that his side had "lost belief" following a 0-0 draw with Chievo Verona last weekend, and the former Basel coach will work to restore that faith as Fiorentina take on Palermo on Sunday. The final home game of the season will be no easy encounter as the Rosanero fight to avoid relegation, whilst the Gigliati have only one win in their last ten matches.
Fiorentina
Matias Vecino remains sidelined along with Khouma Babacar, and Nenad Tomovic will miss the match through suspension. Fiorentina have picked up just 22 points in the last 17 Serie A fixtures compared to 35 in the first 17, something which Sousa has attributed to a lack of consistency. "Compared to the first few months we are no longer as effective" The Coach told Mediaset Premium after the Chievo game. "There are few games in which the opposition put us under serious pressure or stopped us keeping possession, but we need to be more consistent."
Palermo
Despite no less than eight managerial changes this term, Palermo have picked up seven points in the last three league matches. Under current coach Davide Ballardini, the Sicilian outfit remain in the relegation places but - with six points to play for - could still escape to safety. Former Viola player Alberto Gilardino looks set to start up front and has scored seven goals in 14 Serie A appearances against Fiorentina.
