My first step, my first victory, is the personal and tactical growth of my players," Fiorentina Coach Paulo Sousa explained in his Press conference ahead of the Chievo game. "The results are a consequence of that. We raised the expectations of where we were able to compete. And we know that there are different factors which affect the season." The Flying Donkeys will provide formidable opponents for Sousa's men as a series of impressive results have seen them rise to eighth in Serie A. After an excellent performance against Juventus which ultimately led to defeat, the Viola have three games remaining to cement their place in the Europa League for next season. "Tomorrow will be another opportunity to grow in terms of getting through difficult times," the coach continued. "That goes for me, my staff and all the players."We need to use these remaining games to improve our mentality, even when you're not winning you can create a winning mentality."
Chievo
Last weekend's defeat to Atalanta meant that Rolando Maran's men blew an outside chance of making the Europa League, after having been on a run of six matches unbeaten. Despite this setback, the Coach was full of praise for what his team have achieved at his post match press conference. "We'll give it all we've got in the last few games, and we'll see how far we can make it," Maran assured, adding that "However it goes, it's still going to be an extraordinary season for us."
Fiorentina
Borja Valero will likely continue his deeper midfield role as Matias Vecino remains sidelined through injury. Fiorentina remain six points ahead of Milan in the final Europa League spot, and will need some positive results in the final three games of the season in order to cement their place in Europe for next term. Despite a somewhat unlucky defeat to the Bianconeri on Sunday night, Fiorentina have only taken five points in their last six matches and come into the game on the back of two defeats. If the team can match their performance from last week however, the three points should be a mere formality.
