First half

Federico Bernardeschi put Fiorentina ahead in the 26th minute by tapping one in after Nikola Kalinic was clearly brought down by Empoli keeper Lukazs Skorupski and referee Davide Massa gave the advantage.

Second half

Josip Ilicic doubled the advantage with a well-taken penalty after Milan Badelj was undeniably tripped in the area just after the restart.

Berna scored the third after picking the ball up from Milic, surging past two defenders, and powering a shot in at Skorupski’s near post which the keeper never could have stopped.
