First half

Cagliari opened the scoring at about the 90 second mark, with Davide di Gennaro heading home a cross unmarked at the front post.

Fiorentina responded in the 19th minute as Nikola Kalinic (who was onside per the replay) twisted himself to head home a Cristian Tello cross.

The Croatian turned provider in the 25th minute with a lovely cross to Federico Bernardeschi, who finished tidily.

Berna was by no means done, though, latching onto a Josip Ilicic pass on the break and lashing home a beauty from outside the area.

Fiorentina weren’t finished, though, and Kalinic got his brace in the 29th minute. Berna cut in and got fouled on the edge of the box, but Nikola didn’t wait for the whistle and instead curled one just inside Storari’s post.

Second half

Kalinic picked up right where he left off, heading home an absolutely delectable Tello cross from the right for his hat trick.

You’d think that would be the end of things, but Marco Capuano nodded home a di Gennaro corner in the in the 61st minute.

Marco Boriello pulled one back from an identical corner in the 77th to make it 3-5, much to the irritation of Paulo Sousa.

And that’s how it ended, with Fiorentina running out to a 3-5 victory.
