English Premier League side Watford are very close to signing a deal for Fiorentina's Mario Suarez. Arriving in the summer from Atletico Madrid as part of the deal that saw Stefan Savic head in the other direction, the defensive midfielder has never found a regular slot in Paulo Sousa's first team.
With only five starts in Serie A and three in the Europa League, a move away from Florence could be a mutually beneficial deal as the Viola look to free up some funds and the player searches for playing time.
Owned by the Pozzo family of Udinese F.C, Watford already have former Fiorentina player Valon Behrami on their books, and Alessandro Diamanti also enjoyed a short spell with the Hornets before his recent move to Atalanta.
With the fee reported to be in the region of €5.5m and the player set to complete a medical in England tomorrow, the deal could soon become official.
