WIth a brief statement and a slightly awkward video, Fiorentina unveiled their new signing Nikola Kalinic today. It was a move that we have known about for a while, first when Sky Sports said it was nearly done last week, and then yesterday the Viola social media gurus tweeted a picture of the adorable Niko with sporting director and comparatively broad-shouldered ninja, Daniele Prade.

The lanky striker has been purchased outright from Europa League finalists Dnipro, for a fee rumored to be in the neighborhood of €6 to €7 million; the fee sounds about right for a good striker that is still in his prime, but with little successful "big league" experience. While the full financial details haven't been released, it is known that Kalinic has a four year contract with wages around €1m a season.

Based on the above video, we have another shy, slightly weird, but fully adorable "-ic" in our ranks, continuing a proud (if recent) Florentine tradition. After the departure of Stefan Savic, we needed to get that accents-I-have-to-look-up-how-to-type count back up to par, and Prade did the trick. Let's hope Niko can probe a useful part of an intriguing and young attacking battalion.
