The summer transfer dealings at Fiorentina, as discussed by myself and fellow VN writer Huw are apparently like the proverbial London buses... you wait ages for one and then two turn up at once. Today readers, after what seems like an eternity of waiting - two 'buses' have turned up at Fiorentina.

The first one, announced earlier today was Mario Suárez, who arrived as part of the deal that saw Stefan Savić move the other way. The second signing to be officially announced by the club was young Brazilian right back Gilberto Morares Junior (known as Gilberto).

The 22 year old defender has only played in is native Brazil, and having made just 14 appearances for his club Botafogo, he is somewhat of an unknown entity, however he has impressed enough to command a place on Brazil's U23 national team.

With a changing situation at right back for the viola, no doubt a promising young Brazilian will prove to be an interesting addition to the squad for the coming season. With Micah Richards having already left, Nenad Tomovic's poor record in that position and the uncertainty surrounding Facundo Roncaglia's future - a new aquisition at right back was a necessity rather than a luxury.
