Losing last season's top scorer might seem like a disaster to most clubs, but Josip Iličić edging ever closer towards the exit door is likely not the end of the world for most Fiorentina fans. Despite a strong finish to the season, recent reports gathered by Viola News suggest the forward could be taking the short trip up the Autostrada del Sole to join Bologna for the coming season.

Indeed, the website seems to suggest that the only creases to iron out are the final price, with the Viola wanting closer to their €7 million asking price; oh, and there is also the need for Bologna to meet Iličić's wage demands. Pretty big creases, but ones that could be ironed out in the coming weeks.

A late season hot streak from Iličić helped secure fourth spot for the club and led some members of this site to include Iličić in their team of the season. But this hasn't been enough to ensure a future for the Slovenian forward in Florence. That late flourish - including goals against Palermo, Empoli, and Cesena, among others - seemed as though it might be just enough to keep Iličić at the club, but the emergence of Mohammed Salah and Khouma Babacar, as well as the coming return of Giuseppe Rossi seems to leave the Florentine front line overstocked, despite the looming mystery of Mario Gomez.

While many might not be shedding tears at the thought of Iličić leaving, his exit does add to the summer's upheaval. With arrivals yet to be announced, another departure just means even more work to get a settled squad in time for the season's start.
