Mario Gomez out with ankle injury

The injury sustained in Thursday's victory over Juventus will keep the striker out for two weeks

Fiorentina have today confirmed the extent of Mario Gomez' injury that caused him to be substituted in the match against Juventus.

Despite his previous long injury layoffs though, this time he should be back in action in two weeks.

The decision to bring in Alessandro Diamanti and Alberto Gilardino during the January transfer window now looks to have been a sensible one, as Khouma Babacar is also out injured and Giuseppe Rossi is not yet ready to return.

Next week will see two league games and a Europa League first leg tie against AS Roma and with a growing injury list, Vincenzo Montella will have to exploit his squad's versatility once again.
