Fiorentina will be keen to capitalise on their midweek Coppa Italia victory against Roma in their home league fixture against Atalanta in the early Sunday kick off. Despite easily disposing of Atalanta in the previous round of the Coppa with a 3-1 victory, Vincenzo Montella is urging the players to not be complacent to avoid any slip ups. Having drawn the last two league games, La Viola will be looking to take all three points on home soil to keep in touch with the race for a European place.
Although 15th in the table, the nerazzuri have had a resurgence of late, taking 7 points from the last 4 league games. Paraguayan winger Marcelo Estigarribia will miss out through injury and the fitness of striker Mauricio Pinilla will be decided on the day. Manager Stefano Colantuono will be looking to end the 22 year wait for a victory at the Franchi for the Oribici.
Fiorentina will most likely play their usual 3-5-2 formation, however Gonzalo Rodriguez will miss out due to a thigh problem. There will be a bit longer to wait to see new loan signing Mohammed Salah due to work permit issues. Alessandro Diamanti looks set to partner two goal Coppa Italia hero Mario Gomez up front with Khouma Babacar waiting in the wings for his chance. A special commemorative shirt has been commissioned for the game, marking 150 years since Firenze was the capital of Italy.
Confidence without complacency will be the key to victory tomorrow.
Projected lineups:
FIORENTINA (3-5-2): TATARUSANU; TOMOVIC, SAVIC, BASANTA; JOAQUIN, MATI FERNANDEZ, PIZARRO, VALERO, PASQUAL; DIAMANTI, GOMEZ
