Mohammed Salah has officially completed his loan move from Chelsea to Fiorentina. The Egyptian wide man has had a medical in London, as, due to visa rules he is unable to enter Italy until after the transfer window has closed. The story has been circulating for some time - we first mooted the move on 22nd January Chelsea reportedly prepared to offer Salah in Cuadrado deal - Viola Nation but due to a complex triangle involving the transfer of Andre Schurrle to Wolfsburg and Juan Cuadrado to Chelsea it has gone down to the last day of the transfer window. These deals have finally gone through paving the way for Salah to join la viola.
Salah has big JC11 sized shoes to fill, however at 22 he has his best years ahead of him. Like Cuadrado he can play on either flank or just behind the forward allowing Vincenzo Montella to exploit his versatility. Chelsea had spotted potential in Salah after he scored a series of goals against them when playing for Basel but he has had limited opportunities in their star studded attack - making just three appearances this season. As part of the deal the English team will pay his salary until the end of the season, with the option of a 1 year extension for a reported fee of 1 million Euro. Let's hope Fiorentina can help him find the form that got him the move to Chelsea in the first place and make the parting of our vespa just that little bit easier to bear.
