Yikes, guys. There are so many players getting linked for a move to Fiorentina that we're going to start doing these more often. Until then, prepare for MEGA TRANSFER RUMOR REPORT (cue hair metal, fireworks, and light show).
Exits
Mario Suárez has stated that he doesn't want to leave Florence, contrary to the previous rumors we covered here. Even so, Sevilla has been mooted as another possible destination.
Napoli are still chasing Matías Vecino after failing to bring him in this summer. Reports say Fiorentina aren't even interested in listening to offers.
Maybe it's not surprising that everyone wants a piece of Fiorentina's midfield. Now Roberto Donadoni's Bologna is reportedly sniffing around Matías Fernández. Even though the Chilean just signed an extension, the Rossoblu supposedly view him as the perfect building block for a supposed big project.
And maybe the saddest rumor is that Manuel Pasqual has been linked with AC Milan. At 33 years old, it's possible Fiorentina's former captain and longest-serving player doesn't figure into Paulo Sousa's long term plans, with the Rossoneri eager to pick up the sometimes international. Here's hoping it's just a rumor, both for Fiorentina's left-back depth and for Fiorentina's history.
Backline targets
The normally reliable Gianluca de Marzio claims that Juventus center back Daniele Rugani is a January target, but that the Old Lady will only let him leave on loan. Napoli is also chasing the 21-year-old Italian youth international.
A more established center back option is Nicolas Lombaerts. The Belgian international is 30 years old and plays for Zenit. Fiorentina.it believes he's Daniele Pradè's top January target.
Another recent addition to the center back crowd is Eder Balanta. The 22-year-old River Plate defender is thought to be another alternative to Lisandro, although that's really all we've heard.
And now West Ham misfit Angelo Ogbonna has joined the crowded field of potential reinforcements. Frozen out of a surprising Hammers side, the 27-year-old is thought to be pining for a return to Italy, where he excelled with Torino for years. He's still technically a Juventus player, so his loan deal to West Ham would have to be terminated, and it's unclear if he'd stay in Florence for more than six months.
Some other center backs who've been linked with a move to Fiorentina are Frenchman Philippe Mexès of AC Milan, Argentinean Lisandro López of Benfica, and the Greek 23-year-old Marios Oikonomou of Bologna; all still seem like valid options, but there hasn't been much more news on them.
More recently, though, the talk has turned to right backs. Napoli's Colombian wingback Juan Zúñiga hasn't seemed to fit into Maurizio Sarri's plans and could move to Fiorentina on loan, although England has also been tossed around as a possible landing spot.
Another possible right back is Gino Peruzzi. After an uneven two seasons with Catania, the 23-year-old has excelled for Boca Juniors and could be available for 4 million euros. The player's agent has met with Viola representatives, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport. Oh, and sometimes he does this.
Midfield targets
Let's begin with old favorite Walace, about whom there still isn't any clarity. The most recent report is that Gremio want 10 million for him; at this point, it feels like Pradè should maybe take a leaf from Arsene Wenger's book and offer 10,000,001 euros. All in coins.
Sticking with South America, Andrés Schettino of Fénix in Uruguay is maybe on the verge of signing. The 22-year-old is an Uruguayan youth international at every level and wears the number 5 shirt for his current club, suggesting that he's more of a battler than a creator. Also, what's up with the sudden influx of young Uruguayans?
Forward targets
Remember that time when Juan Iturbe was supposed to join Fiorentina? Well, it turns out that linear time is an illusion, because the rumor is back. This time, Fiorentina lead Genoa and Hellas Verona in chasing the attacker, if Fiorentina.it can be believed.
Lass Bangoura is a versatile Guinean international attacker. He's had a bit of a rocky go at Rayo Vallecano, but at just 23 years of age, he could still come good; after all, he made the Cup of Africa roster aged just 19. He'd probably be the sort of reinforcement for depth that teams look for on the cheap in the January window. He also looked dangerous against Barcelona recently.
Other
Well, that was exhausting, but we now know that Vincenzo Montella is the new coach at Sampdoria. We don't know if Roberto Soriano or Ervin Zukanovic will be made available to la Viola for discounted prices, as was rumored, but the Aeroplanino is definitely back in Genoa. Just glad that one's over with.
And, in the most mysterious news thus far, Fiorentina scouts have been spotted at Angers matches. The French club, newly promoted to Ligue 1, have impressed this season, but nobody seems to know whom the scouts are watching. So, uh, maybe there's a really unexpected signing from France, too.
Holy smokes, that was exhausting, and that wasn't even all the rumors, just the big ones. Feel free to add any others in the comments.
